I’m falling in love with London, it’s such a busy, alive city that brings so many creative people together. This was even more evident on Wednesday night when I attended the CFDA’s Young Designer’s showcase hosted by Diane von Furstenberg at the W hotel in London. .
I sipped on rosé and admired the exhibition of next generation designers whilst mingling amongst a crowd of creative, talented people.
The CFDA is an association that consists of more than 400 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewellery and accessory designers. This night was part of their global partnership announcement with W hotels as they exhibited their incubator designers, exposing them into the London market.
The designer’s works were spread around the dimly lit space for the invitees to admire as they sipped on champaign and discussed their grand, innovative plans.
Diane von Furstenberg made an appearance, showing her support for up and coming designers, such as Misha Nonoo, Lucio Castro, Nomia and Kaelen. Sadly, whilst the mood lighting may have set the ‘cool vibe’ scene it didn’t agree with my iPhone 5 camera – so you’ll have to bear with the blurriness.
Although the lighting happened to be great in the bathrooms….
The Council also support accessory designers and showcased shoes by Isa Tapia, Jewellery by Dezso and handbags by Kara. Literally wanted to get my hands on all of them!!
It’s events like these, where great music plays, wine is poured like tap water and creative people mingle that really makes me love fashion. It’s these glamorous moments, amidst the general craziness of the industry that enables young designers to gain support from likeminded people. Especially in the hustle and bustle of a city like London, where you can find all kinds of creative people, it’s so important we support the new, upcoming generations!
And the best part about a fashion event – you’ll never leave empty handed.. 😍
